Looking for a HiCoffee Alternative on iPhone?

Both apps draw a caffeine curve. After that they part company completely, and for a lot of people HiCoffee is the right answer. Here is the comparison written the way you would want to read it before downloading either.

The short version

Pick HiCoffee if any of these is your reason

  • You want to tap a drink, not type a number. HiCoffee's App Store listing describes a database of more than 2,500 branded coffee products plus a calculator for homemade drinks. Circa has no branded-drink database at all. You enter milligrams.
  • You wear an Apple Watch. HiCoffee's listing describes Apple Watch support. Circa has no watch app.
  • Your data is in Apple Health. HiCoffee's listing describes Health data sync. Circa does not use Apple HealthKit at all and cannot see anything in Apple Health.

Those are three good reasons, and no feature on Circa's side cancels them out. If you recognise yourself in that list, stop reading here.

The other direction

Pick Circa if the curve is not the point

01

It logs more than coffee

Caffeine, nicotine and supplements in one ledger, with exact doses in mg, g, micrograms, IU, ml, drops or pouches. The supplement side carries a 104-entry library with evidence grades and interaction flags.

02

It reports statistics, not impressions

Effects come with n, a 95 percent confidence interval, a p-value and the individual nights behind them, and any effect whose interval fails to clear zero for 14 days is retired automatically. You can also run an N of 1 A/B trial on an item in your stack.

03

It reads the Google Health API, including HRV

If your tracker's data lives in a Google account rather than in Apple Health, Circa reads it directly, and that includes heart rate variability, which the Google Health route into Apple Health does not carry. See Fitbit HRV on iPhone.

04

It forecasts, and shows the drivers

A driver model predicts tonight's sleep score and deep minutes and shows each driver's signed contribution, rather than handing you a single opaque number.

How this was written. The HiCoffee rows describe what its own App Store listing says about the app, not a hands-on test. Everything in the Circa column is checked against Circa's source code. Circa is free and shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob, with no purchase that removes it; we make no claim about how HiCoffee is priced or monetised, so check its listing yourself.

Circa is a personal tracking tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition, and it gives no medical advice. Its numbers describe your own logs and your own tracker readings, nothing more. Talk to a qualified professional before you change medication, supplementation, or anything else about your health.
